About OpenType
All fonts in the CastleType library are now available in OpenType format. Fonts in this format work on both Macintosh and Windows platforms, provide more functionality, and are more compact and therefore faster to download and easier to install. Also, please be aware that some of the Standard Codepages (particularly the Cyrillic and Greek alphabets), as well as some advanced typographic features, may only be available in OpenType in conjunction with an OpenType-savvy application (such as Adobe InDesign).
Some newer CastleType fonts are available only in OpenType. In fact, as of 2010, all new CastleType fonts will be available only in OpenType format; other formats are available upon request. OpenType supersedes both the TrueType and the Type 1 ("PostScript") font formats. Many foundries, including Adobe, no longer provide fonts in these earlier formats.
